HIP
You may benefit from a spinal or nerve blocks for hip surgery, namely a PENG (pericapsular nerve group) block or a SIFI (suprainguinal fascia iliaca) block.
Click below to learn about these blocks.
The adductor canal saphenous nerve gives sensation to the front and inside of the knee.
The iPACK block anesthetizes the back of the knee.
For more extensive surgeries, we often insert and leave a small catheter to deliver local anesthetic over the next three days. On the third day, you can simply remove the catheter (it does not hurt!) and throw everything away!
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call us and speak to the anesthesiologist on call.
