KNEE
You may benefit from one or two nerve blocks for knee surgery, namely an adductor canal saphenous nerve block and an an iPACK block.
Click below to learn about these blocks.
The adductor canal saphenous nerve gives sensation to the front and inside of the knee.
The iPACK block anesthetizes the back of the knee.
For more extensive surgeries, we often insert and leave a small catheter to deliver local anesthetic over the next three days. On the third day, you can simply remove the catheter (it does not hurt!) and throw everything away!
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call us and speak to the anesthesiologist on call.
